Getting to Know God

For much of my life, I grappled with confusion about my faith and my relationship with God. It wasn’t until my 30s that I began to sense God molding me and guiding me toward a deeper understanding of my beliefs. However, it wasn’t until my 40s that I experienced a profound transformation—one where God had to break me to save me. This journey has led me to incorporate Bible reading into my daily morning routine with coffee. Each day, I find comfort and clarity in its pages, discovering wisdom that resonates with my experiences.

My spiritual background is quite diverse. I was baptized both Catholic and Pentecostal and with my not-so-healthy upbringing, I was exposed to various religions. Growing up in Louisiana and being half Philippino, I found myself rooted in a culture rich with racism, superstition, and witchcraft, which only added to my confusion about faith and God.

After Bobby and I were in the thick of spiritual attack season, Pastor Mike and Robin pulled us up from the depths of hell. In one of the marriage session with Pastor Mike and Robin, we were tasked with reading the Bible, starting with Proverbs, then Psalms, Genesis, and then keep reading. I still send them Facebook messages about my take on what I just read, and I know if I get to a hard place, they are always there to guide me with the truth. https://www.epiclifeterrell.com

Though we do not attend their church, we will always support Pastor Mike and Robin and the work the Lord is leading them to do for the city of Terrell.

I read scripture here and there, attended a few women’s Bible study groups, and read a few Christian prayer/devotion books, but I was not truly ready to read the Bible from start to finish.

God sparked an invitation to meet my soon-to-be mentor over coffee. God had other plans for what started as a conversation over the conference notes. Thank you, Christi McLain, for helping me discover the Life Application Study Bible. You heard the call from my heart through past hurt, pain, and confusion when getting to know God as an adult. https://www.facebook.com/gracefullvalleyministries

Through this blog, I hope to share my experiences and insights as I continue to learn about God and navigate my faith. I invite you to join me on this discovery, reflection, and growth journey.
