Getting to Know God as an Adult….

I needed a support system with Get to know God as an adult

Asking Questions: When reading the Bible, there will be questions, such as, “What the hell does that mean?” and “Why?” Wait, you’re telling me that is what happened. I needed mentors who I could trust so that when I reach out with follow-up questions, I don’t feel judged and led down the wrong path. At the end of the day, the relationship I have with God is on me.

Research: I still use Google Search, apps, Chat GBT to see pictures, and YouTube to watch videos about what is happening with the scripture storyline. I need help with timelines, pictures, and pronouncing words correctly. I even found cool Instagram Anmie-style animations to watch to help me process the storyline. @billyjackanimates The Life Application Study Bible adds a lot of extra content to break down the scriptures and provides maps, timelines, and explanations that are current in today’s life.

Be kind to myself: Getting in the swing of reading the Bible every day was not easy… However, I read Proverbs twice and then Psalms. Doesn’t mean I fully got it, or remember it. But God has met me every step of the way.

I will forever be grateful to Pastor Mike and Robin Skahan. Pastor Mike guided me to start reading Proverbs, then Psalms, and then Genesis and keep going.

With the way my brain processes information, David Goggins says its best: “I’m not getting this paragraph, I can’t remember this paragraph to pass this test to get into the military, read it again, still not getting it, read it again, still not getting it then write it out.” Well, I got to write out everything I f** thing I do, then write it out again, and write it out again, and guess what happened? I got it. I got it.  Go back again & again! #davidgoggins #shorts
